A gallery of ceramic sculpture. It’s rare to feel as if an animal can possess you — inhabit your body, mind and spirit as if it were a new lover exploring all your real and artificial selves. Dress your dogs and cats with as many sweater vests, booties and hats as you want; they’ll never come close to the hybrid human qualities that seductively inhabit the work of Beth Cavener Stichter. This might be, in part, because she views her stone sculptures as portraits — of people she has met briefly in passing or good friends or family. She doubles the uncanny moment by acknowledging that these creatures are self-portraits as well, since the very act of interpreting another’s actions, facial expressions, and intentions says — and betrays — much more about our own fears and desires than the other person. We rarely acknowledge or intellectually wrestle with this flash-fiction judgment that we impose onto friends and strangers alike.

BEAST'S DREAMS AS CHILDREN (HYUNSEUNG, DOOJOON, JUNHYUNG)
- Hyunseung: From what I remember, I think I wanted to be a singer before I even entered elementary school. I liked glamorous things, like having a lot of popularity. I liked things that looked cool. Maybe it was before I entered kindergarten, I don't remember exactly when, but I was told that I saw a Seo Taeji and Kids performance when I was really young. I thought they were so cool so I recorded that tape, and my mom told me that I would follow along with their dances. I don't remember doing that but I think I've had that kind of glamorous dream once when I was a baby. I think I got some kind of thrill from that when I was really little.
- Doojoon: It wasn't like a 'I must do this' kind of thing, it was just a dream, just my imagination. I think I've had these kinds of dreams since I was in elementary school. I always thought it was a world out of my league and so I didn't have that daring motivation to challenge it... And because I had confidence in athletics, during my third year of high school as I worked hard exercising and studying, and as I dreamt of becoming a physical education teacher, there was the documentary that Hyunseung came out in with the Big Bang sunbaenims. It was so fun that I watched it many times. While I was watching it what I thought was... Hyunseung and Daesung are the same age as me. I think it was when I was about 18 years old, I was probably in my second or third year of high school but... Something that I feared and avoided, they were doing coolly and confidently. I was charmed by that image and I gained my courage from that.
- Junhyung: When I first started dancing, I think I was in fifth or sixth grade. During that time, there weren't a lot of dance academies like there are today. Because there weren't a lot of places to learn, when I was in fifth grade I put a post up on the internet. I wrote that I really wanted to dance and I wanted to be able to practice and asked what I should do. I even wrote our home phone number in that post, so every day after school I would wait in front of the phone all day thinking hopefully someone would call. I eventually did get a call and they said that they had a dance practice room and told me to come if I wanted to dance. So when I was in elementary school I first started dancing, and during that time, I had a dream of becoming a dancer. Then during my third year of middle school, I wanted to find a lot of friends that shared the same heart as I did so I chose to go to an arts high school. I entered the Drama Film Department there and as I was learning how to act, I wanted to become an actor. Then one of my friends went out to a music festival and he went to receive an award. He received the prize and I went to go watch him do the congratulatory stage, and as I saw that, he looked really cool holding the mic and singing. After watching him, I think that's where my dream of becoming a singer actually started.
